5 Things I'll NEVER Do At Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios takes guests into the middle of their favorite movies. From fast thrill rides to fantastic live shows, there’s much to do in the park. However, there are some things you probably shouldn’t do when it comes to visiting this Walt Disney World theme park. Here are the 5 things that I would never do when spending a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

Sleep in

Normally, I absolutely love sleeping in, even during my Disney vacations.  This is not the case for when I visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There is a high number of heavy hitter attractions that draw long lines at Studios.

One of the best rides at Hollywood Studios is Rise of the Resistance. I’m not even a Star Wars fan, and that ride blew my mind. Naturally, a ride as cool as this one will draw long lines. It is not uncommon to see over an hour long wait time. One of the best ways to beat the crowds is to take advantage of early entry. I will never skip Rise, even if I have to wake up early.

Skip a visit to the Trolley Car Cafe

I frequently need my caffeine fix during long days at Disney. Luckily, every park has its own Starbucks inside. The one at Hollywood Studios is my favorite one of them all. It is themed after an old Hollywood trolley that would glide up and down the boulevards. Delight fills me anytime I visit this cafe. I don’t even mind waiting in the long lines because I get to look around at all of the intricate design details.

Wait more than an hour for Slinky Dog Dash

Another great ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Slinky Dog Dash. This is a very cute and mild coaster for most ages. As fun as it is, I would never wait more than hour to ride Slinky. It’s just not a high priority ride for me at Studios. Also, the ride has an outdoor queue that is not helpful when combating against the Florida Humidity. I keep an eye on the wait times by using the My Disney Experience app throughout the day and jump in when it is low enough, usually towards the end of the night.

Count on eating three full meals in the park

I’m going to be real here - Disney’s Hollywood Studios does not have the best food. It’s gotten better in the last few years but it’s still not completely there yet. There are several restaurants with difficult-to-get reservations. The Brown Derby is way too expensive for me. Pizza Rizzo is terrible and I will never go back. The rest is your standard theme park burgers and chicken nuggets, which is fine but nothing special. I never bank on eating a full three meals at Studios. I’ll eat some snacks and maybe one meal. Typically, I plan on taking a break mid-day to grab lunch or dinner from outside of the park (and to nap after waking up so early).

Have dry eyes while watching Fantasmic

Fantasmic is my absolute must-do while visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is a nightly show featuring characters, music, boats, and water effects. There’s definitely  a touch of old school Disney magic in that show that makes my eyes sweaty with respect. I will never skip this nighttime show!

Disney Darling Blog has a comprehensive list of Disney movies, broken. down by the studio from which the films were produced.   Disney Animation Studios When most people think of "Disney movies", they are probably referring to Disney Animation Studios films. These movies were made from Disney's official animation studio and theatrically released.  At the time of writing, Disney Animation Studios (DAS) has released 61 movies. In this list, these movies are broken down by era. The Golden Era starts off with the massively successful Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The movies in this era were critically acclaimed and helped establish Walt Disney as a serious filmmaker.  During WWII, the Disney movie studio struggled. To save money, many films were made up of a compilation of cartoon shorts. This era is referred to the Package Era, or sometimes the Wartime Era.  With the war over, D...

Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World Disneyland and Disney World are two different parks, located on opposite sides of the country. Walt Disney World Without Genie+

Recently, Disney introduced its new Genie+ system. Basically, Genie+ is the replacement for FastPass, except you have to pay to use it now. The FastPass system has been a staple in many Disney trips for 20 years. I myself was a huge advocate. But doing Disney without Genie+ or Lighting Lane is totally possible. Many people have reported on forums that Genie+ is definitely a bonus and not at all a requirement. Here are some tips for a Walt Disney World vacation WITHOUT Genie+: Check Wait Times Walt Disney World's app is a must for every trip. On the app, you can check wait times for every attraction across the resort. You many want to download the app a few weeks before your trip and take note of the wait times throughout the days leading up to your visit to get an idea of when the parks are the most crowded.  Some rides like The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will have a permanent hour-long wait no matter what.  Some rides like Splash Mountain (Tiana's Version) hit th...
