Walt Disney World Parks: The Basics

Are you planning a trip to Walt Disney World? Or just want to learn more about the parks and don't know where to start? Disney Darling breaks down the basics for you! Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World Disneyland and Disney World are two different parks, located on opposite sides of the country. As mentioned in this post , it is a common misconception that Disneyland and Disney World are the same thing.  Disneyland is the first Disney theme park ever, opening in 1955. It is located in Anaheim, California, near Los Angeles.  Disneyland has two different parks: Disneyland Park (with the castle), and Disney's California Adventure (or DCA). Disneyland also has three hotels and the Downtown Disney shopping district.  Walt Disney World is located in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. It opened in 1971, after Walt's passing. Walt Disney World has 4 different theme parks, 2 water parks, 28 hotels, and the Disney Springs shopping district.  There are quite a few more differences, but lo

Top 5 Favorite Table Service Restaurants at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has so many restaurants to chose from, it can be overwhelming trying to decide where to get lunch!  There are two different types of restaurants at Walt Disney World - quick service and table service. Quick service restaurants are similar to fast food and casual dining places. You order your food at the cash register, pick it up, and go. Table service restaurants, on the other hand, are a bit fancier. You'll have a waiter take you to your table and your order will be brought out to you.  Magic Kingdom has many great table service locations, so I decided to narrow them down to my top five favorites: 5. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant This may be a controversial take, but I love Tony’s! Previous reviews have said the food is overpriced and poorly cooked. Thankfully, the restaurant seems to have redeemed itself after a recent menu revamp.  You are paying for the experience, like a lot of other Disney restaurants.   Tony’s is immaculately themed. This is the restaurant

Walt Disney World's Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel To Close

The news recently broke that Walt Disney World's Galactic Starcruiser hotel is to close.  The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser resort offered a unique experience. The hotel was themed after a spaceship in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars fans could dress up as their favorite character and board the ship for a two night voyage where they learned how to wield a lightsaber and ate foods found in the movies.  This hotel opened in March 2022, and is set to close September 2023, meaning that the hotel will only have been open for a year and a half.  Why is Disney closing the Galactic Starcuriser hotel? Disney has not given an official reason, but fans can guess that it has to come down to one reason: money.  As you can guess by the elaborate experience offered, rooms at this resort were not cheap. Just a two-night stay could cost $5,000. Comparatively, a two-night stay at the Grand Floridian, Walt Disney World's most luxurious resort, costs about $1,600. This does not seem like such

DCP Tips: Learning

The Disney College Program has 3 components - Living, Learning, and Earring. The Learning component is sometimes overlooked, but still important. This is a college program, after all. Talk to your school After you have been accepted in the DCP, you will need to notify your school. You will be physically away from campus for at least a whole semester. Different schools have different policies when it comes to the DCP. My university had me take a temporary leave of absence, allowing me to remain registered as a student at the school without needing to be enrolled in courses. This paused my scholarships and GPA. When I returned to campus, I was able to pick up where I left off.  One of my roommates went to a university that still required her to take a certain number of credits while doing the DCP. She was able to take her classes online. To find out what your university’s plan for the DCP is, talk to your advisor.  On top of (or instead of) your regular college courses, the Disney Colleg

Walt Disney World Summer Bucket List

Walt Disney World is a popular summer vacation destination. If you are planing on visiting Walt Disney World in summer 2023, whether it's for the 1st or 101st time, here are some activities to bring on the summer mood: 1. Devour the Kitchen Sink What’s summer without ice cream? The Kitchen Sink is the signature dish at Beaches and Cream. You’ll find this old time-y soda shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. You can get there by bus, walking from Epcot, or taking a friendship boat. The Kitchen Sink has 8 scoops of ice cream, covered in hot fudge, chocolate chips, candy, brownies, cookies, whip cream, sprinkles, and cherries on top. It is even served in bowl made to look like a kitchen sink. The menu states that this grand dessert serves 4 people, but you might want to bring even more people than that to tackle this sundae.   2. Get soaked on Kali River Rapids Just because Splash Mountain is undergoing a transformation, doesn’t mean you can’t still get soaked on a water ride at Walt D

Walt Disney World Without a Stroller

When it comes to the Disney parks, there may be nothing quite as divisive as strollers .   There are many reasons people are anti-stroller: they take up too much room, ruin the atmosphere, and result in cut-up ankles from reckless drivers. Of course, there are just as many reasons to be pro-stroller. Walt Disney World is massive, and sometimes little legs just can't keep up.   Luckily, there some things you can do to make it possible to go to Walt Disney World without using a stroller.  Pros of Doing Disney Without A Stroller: Save Money Stroller rentals at Walt Disney World are not a bad deal. They are $15 a day for single strollers, and $31 a day for double strollers. You also have the option of buying a multi-day pass, which reduces the price-per-day a bit. However, if you want to be frugal every penny counts. That extra $15 could go to a souvenir or some churros for the fam.  Save Time If you decide to rent a stroller, you should allow for some time once you've entered the

Friar's Nook The Friar's Nook  is a food stand located in the middle of Fantasyland, near the castle. It  offers both a breakfast menu and a lunch/dinner menu. I myself have never had breakfast at this location, but I would like to try the doughnuts one day Starting at 11:00am, the stand offers hot dogs, mac and cheese, and tater tots. Some menu offerings comb

A Complete List of Disney Animated Movies

So, you want to know or watch every Disney animated movie ever? Disney Darling Blog has a comprehensive list of Disney movies, broken. down by the studio from which the films were produced.   Disney Animation Studios When most people think of "Disney movies", they are probably referring to Disney Animation Studios films. These movies were made from Disney's official animation studio and theatrically released.  At the time of writing, Disney Animation Studios (DAS) has released 61 movies. In this list, these movies are broken down by era. The Golden Era starts off with the massively successful Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The movies in this era were critically acclaimed and helped establish Walt Disney as a serious filmmaker.  During WWII, the Disney movie studio struggled. To save money, many films were made up of a compilation of cartoon shorts. This era is referred to the Package Era, or sometimes the Wartime Era.  With the war over, Disney could finally return to
