Walt Disney World 2025: Epcot

Epcot has long been a symbol of innovation and imagination. As visitors step foot into this futuristic utopia, they are transported to a world where technology and culture seamlessly intertwine. 2025 will bring Epcot a new attraction, a new lounge, and some updates along with returning favorites.

Test Track Reopens

The most exciting thing coming to Epcot in 2025 is an all new Test Track attraction! Test Trak closed last year to undergo a serious upgrade Dubbed Test Track 3.0 by fans, this ride will combine nostalgic elements with technological plussing. This attraction is reported to open on September 20th. Test Track is a fun thrill ride and the park has surely missed it - I know I have.

Gran Fiesta Tour Closing for Refurbishment

It is common for many attractions to close during the beginning quarter of the year for refurbishment, and the Gran Fiesta Tour is no exception. This boat ride located in the Mexican pyramid will be closed from January 6th until March 15th. Thankfully, it will open just in time for the spring break crowds. This ride is exponentially more fun the drunker you are. The college kids will have a blast.

Spaceship Earth Lounge Opens

The best thing to do at Epcot is to eat and drink. In spring of 2025, you will be able to do so inside of the park’s icon. That’s right - a lounge will be added inside of Spaceship Earth. The current design is giving…Holiday Inn-core. Hopefully the imagineers can whip up something a bit more futuristic for 2025.

Spaceship Earth Refurbishment Cancelled - Speculated

This has not been officially announced, but fans can easily read between the lines. A few years ago, a Spaceship Earth dark ride refurbishment was announced as part of Epcot’s massive makeover. It’s been 5 years, and nothing has happened. Most were speculating that this refurbishment had been put on hold. However, the announcement of the lounge has given way to new speculations. The lounge is going to open in less than 6 months. That is not enough time for the originally planned upgrades to be built. And since the ride and the lounge share such a close space, I don’t see how the lounge can be open if the ride is shut down. Disney isn’t going to open a brand new lounge just to close it again in a few months. So this means that the Spaceship Earth refurbishment probably isn’t going to happen. At least not for another couple of years.

2025 Epcot Festivals

Each year, Epcot hosts four different festivals.

Festival of the Arts has speciality vendors selling crafts, unique photo ops, and activities guests can participate in. There is a giant panic-by-number mural that guests can paint themselves! Each guest is given a square to paint. By the end of the Festival, thousands of guests will have contributed to a masterpiece.

Epcot fully blooms during the Flower and Garden Festival. This spring-time event features flowery exhibits, topiaries of your favorite Disney characters, a butterfly house, and good music.

Food and Wine Festival is by far the most popular time at Epcot. Guests celebrate the best thing to do at Epcot - drink and eat around the World. On a normal day at Epcot, there are many treats and drinks to find at each country's pavilion around the World Showcase. During the Food and Wine Festival, food stands representing other countries also offer delicious options. Booths representing cuisine from Greece, Ireland, Brazil, Spain, India, Belgium, and Australia have been known to make appearances.

Similar to the Food and Wine Festival, the Festival of the Holidays shows guests how different countries and cultures celebrate. There will be plenty of decorations, delicious treats, and maybe a cup of cheer or 2 (or 5). The main event for this Festival is the Candlelight Processional. Each night, a celebrity will narrate the Biblical Christmas story, backed by a choir and orchestra.

Here are the dates of the festivals. At the time of writing this article, several dates have not yet been announced.

Festival of the Arts: January 17 - February 24

Flower and Garden Festival: March 5 - June 2

Food and Wine Festival: August 29 - November 22 (estimated)

Festival of the Holidays: November 28 - December 31 (estimated)

A Complete List of Disney Animated Movies

So, you want to know or watch every Disney animated movie ever? Disney Darling Blog has a comprehensive list of Disney movies, broken. down by the studio from which the films were produced.   Disney Animation Studios When most people think of "Disney movies", they are probably referring to Disney Animation Studios films. These movies were made from Disney's official animation studio and theatrically released.  At the time of writing, Disney Animation Studios (DAS) has released 61 movies. In this list, these movies are broken down by era. The Golden Era starts off with the massively successful Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The movies in this era were critically acclaimed and helped establish Walt Disney as a serious filmmaker.  During WWII, the Disney movie studio struggled. To save money, many films were made up of a compilation of cartoon shorts. This era is referred to the Package Era, or sometimes the Wartime Era.  With the war over, D...

Walt Disney World Parks: The Basics

Are you planning a trip to Walt Disney World? Or just want to learn more about the parks and don't know where to start? Disney Darling breaks down the basics for you! Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World Disneyland and Disney World are two different parks, located on opposite sides of the country. As mentioned in this post , it is a common misconception that Disneyland and Disney World are the same thing.  Disneyland is the first Disney theme park ever, opening in 1955. It is located in Anaheim, California, near Los Angeles.  Disneyland has two different parks: Disneyland Park (with the castle), and Disney's California Adventure (or DCA). Disneyland also has three hotels and the Downtown Disney shopping district.  Walt Disney World is located in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. It opened in 1971, after Walt's passing. Walt Disney World has 4 different theme parks, 2 water parks, 28 hotels, and the Disney Springs shop...

Walt Disney World Without Genie+

Recently, Disney introduced its new Genie+ system. Basically, Genie+ is the replacement for FastPass, except you have to pay to use it now. The FastPass system has been a staple in many Disney trips for 20 years. I myself was a huge advocate. But doing Disney without Genie+ or Lighting Lane is totally possible. Many people have reported on forums that Genie+ is definitely a bonus and not at all a requirement. Here are some tips for a Walt Disney World vacation WITHOUT Genie+: Check Wait Times Walt Disney World's app is a must for every trip. On the app, you can check wait times for every attraction across the resort. You many want to download the app a few weeks before your trip and take note of the wait times throughout the days leading up to your visit to get an idea of when the parks are the most crowded.  Some rides like The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will have a permanent hour-long wait no matter what.  Some rides like Splash Mountain (Tiana's Version) hit th...

Walt Disney World 2024: Disney's' Hollywood Studios

Disney's Hollywood Studios, one of the four major theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, has been an iconic destination for entertainment enthusiasts since its opening in 1989. As we look ahead to 2024, the park continues to evolve and captivate visitors with its unique blend of movie magic, immersive experiences, and beloved characters. 2024 will see some updated attractions and special event dates at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  New Little Mermaid Show The Voyage of The Little Mermaid is one of Hollywood Studio’s longest running stage shows. Like the rest of the parks, it closed in 2020. However, guests noticed its absence once everything else opened. With the show being closed for so long, rumors started to spread. Last year, Disney Darling even predicted an overhaul of Animation Courtyard. It seems that won’t be happening for a few more years (if ever).  Recently, Disney announced the return of a Little Mermaid show. This one w...
