Walt Disney World 2024 Since its grand opening in 1971, Walt Disney World Resort has remained an unparalleled symbol of enchantment and imagination, captivating the hearts of millions of visitors each year. The year of 2024 will be no different. Here are five new things coming to Walt Disney World Parks in 2024. Park Reservations Lifted After re-opening from the pandemic, Disney introduced the park reservation system. In addition to buying tickets, guests would book a reservation for the park they wanted to visit and which day. This was an excellent way to keep track of capacity. This system meant that guests knew in advanced which park they would be able to get into which day. However, there were some downsides. Some guests hate having to plan out every single minute of their vacation. Some like to wake up in the morning and decide which park they want to go to based on their current vibes. Now, they have to make that decision months in advance. Fortunately, Walt Disney World is lif
Anyone familiar with Epcot's World Showcase knows that there is room for a few more pavilions. Greece was one of the proposed ones that fell through. However, a Greece pavilion would still be a wonderful addition in the future. Here is my proposal for the Greece Pavilion:
Parthenon
The icon of the pavilion will be a replica of the Parthenon. Inside would be an exhibit on Greek mythology and how it influenced stories throughout time. For example, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is based on Pyramus and Thisbe.
Meg's Garden
Behind the Parthenon will be a statue garden. One of the most iconic scenes in Disney's Hercules is Meg's garden, where Meg sings "I Won't Say I'm In Love" around fountains and historical Greek statues. This could be recreated in an artistic way, similar to the UK's hedge maze or the garden in the China Pavilion. Replicas of statues like the Venus de Milo will be placed throughout the garden. Disney could go extra-meta and do a statue of the Muses as the Phantom Five. This space can be used as a character meet and greet spot. Hercules and Meg may not be super popular with the general public, but character hunters would kill to snap a pic with these rare ones. Disney is also looking for photo-worthy backdrops in the Instagram era, and this would provide that.
Restaurants
There would a be a quick-service and a table service restaurant in the pavilion. The quick service will be called Zero to Gyro and will be a create-your-own Gyro place, similar to Chipotle or Subway. The table service restaurant will offer more traditional dishes, and could be named Ambrosia after the food of the gods. There will also be a wine stand called Dionysus, where guests can purchase glasses of wine, bottles of soda, and maybe some snacks. This stand will be located towards the lagoon, similar to how China's Joy of Tea stand is placed.
Mount Olympus
Should Disney want to add an E-ticket attraction to the showcase, a mountain-style rollercoaster can fit in the Greek Pavilion. After all, Mount Olympus is the most important location for the Greek myths. I do not think there needs to be any animatronic scenes involved, just some heavenly-like scenery pieces guests zoom through. This can be towards the very back of the pavilion and serve as a "weenie".
